Room Types Setup Guide
Introduction
This section is for adding various types of units that are used to group units into types. This is primarily used in hotel-style reservation pages, where guests reserve by the type of unit rather than by a specific unit. Examples of room types could include: Single Room, Triple Room, Suite, King Room, etc.
Each room type will appear in the hotel-style reservation page as a bookable unit.
2. Viewing and Adding Room Types
The first screen of room types displays all the room types that have been added to the system.
- The first column shows the room type name.
- The second column shows the number of rooms of that type in the system.
Click the “Add Room Type” link to add a new room type or click on an existing room type name to drill down into the settings screen for that previously saved room type.
3. Primary Settings
In this section, you will configure the primary settings for the room type:

- Room Type Label: Enter the label for the room type, which is used to reference the room or fraction type.
Order: Use the “Order” dropdown field to sort how room types will be displayed in dropdown selections throughout the system. This also determines the order in which room types appear on hotel-style reservation pages.
4. Hotel-Style Users Only (Optional Settings)
These optional settings are used on hotel-style reservation pages:

- Description: Enter the characteristics of the room type. This will be shown in the reservation page’s room type description.
- Additional Details: This field is used to provide further information that will appear in a pop-up window. You can also add photos by inserting the photo merge code or HTML code in the description.
- Primary Photo: Add the primary photo of the room type, which will appear next to the room type description.
- Additional Photos: Add additional photos that can be used in the description or additional details window. Ensure to set the radio button to “Yes” to show additional photos in a slideshow. A minimum of two photos is required for the slideshow to work properly.
- Multiple Rate Plans: Expand the section called “Select Multiple Rate Plans” to allow guests to choose different rate plans for the room type. These settings are only used on hotel-style reservation pages in the availability search mode.
- Primary Rate Plan: Be sure to set a primary rate for each room/unit. The order of the rate plans is determined by the rate plan section, and you can rearrange them by dragging and dropping the rate plans in the list.

Email Template Details: Add any additional information for email templates in the “Details for Email Templates” field. Use the merge code {{roomtypedetails}} to insert the details into email templates. This information will be used only once per room type that is part of the reservation.
5. Deleting a Room Type
If you need to delete a room type, you can find the link to delete the room type at the bottom of the room type settings screen.
How are room types used?
Room types are used internally to help you organize your rooms. You can select which room types to display on the availability calendar in the reservation manager, for example.
How many room types can be added?
You can add as many room types as you need.
